This policy applies to myopencrate.com and The Open Crate's online shopping and customer-service features. It describes the information the website collects, why it is used, and the service providers involved in processing it.

Information we collect

When you shop online, we may collect your name, email address, optional phone number, delivery address, cart and order details, shipping choices, and the acknowledgments you accept during checkout.

For fraud prevention, checkout security, abuse prevention, and dispute documentation, our systems may also process technical information such as your IP address, browser or device information, request timing, and security-validation results.

If you submit a Mystery Box review, we collect the display name, ratings, review text, box type, and security-validation information you provide with that submission. Reviews are moderated before they appear publicly.

If you sign up for shipping or store updates, the information you submit through that signup form is used to manage that mailing list.

Payments

Online card payments are handled by Stripe. The Open Crate does not collect or store your complete payment-card number on this website. Stripe processes payment information under its own privacy and security practices.

We retain order and transaction records needed for customer service, accounting, taxes, fraud prevention, refunds or disputes, and other legitimate business records.

Shipping and order communication

We use Shippo to obtain shipping rates, purchase labels, and manage tracking. Information needed to ship an order may be provided to Shippo and the selected shipping carrier, including the recipient name, delivery address, and contact information when needed for delivery.

Order and tracking emails may be sent through Zoho ZeptoMail. Those messages use the order information needed to provide receipts, shipping details, tracking information, or customer support.

Website hosting, security, maps, and mailing list services

Cloudflare provides website hosting, network security, bot protection, and related infrastructure. Cloudflare may process network and device information needed to provide those services. Cloudflare Turnstile is used on the review form to help distinguish legitimate visitors from automated submissions.

Google Maps may be used to display The Open Crate's store location. When a Google map is loaded, Google may receive network, browser, device, and related request information under Google's own privacy practices.

Brevo is used for the website's mailing-list signup. Information submitted through that signup is processed by Brevo for mailing-list management and related messages.

Browser storage and cart reservations

The online store uses browser session storage to remember your temporary cart while you shop. Physical Mystery Boxes placed in an active cart are reserved for a limited time and are released automatically when the reservation expires or the cart is released.

Stripe, Cloudflare, and other service providers may use cookies or similar technologies when necessary to provide payment, security, fraud-prevention, or service functionality.

How information is used

We use customer information to operate the store, reserve inventory, calculate shipping, process payments, fulfill orders, send order and tracking information, provide customer support, prevent fraud and automated abuse, moderate reviews, maintain business records, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use payment-card information for advertising, and we do not sell customer personal information to advertisers.

Retention and security

Temporary cart and rate-limit records are kept only as needed for the reservation or security window. Order, consent, tax, payment, shipping, support, and dispute records may be kept longer when reasonably needed for business, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes.

We use reasonable technical safeguards designed to limit unauthorized access, including HTTPS, Cloudflare security controls, protected administrative tools, server-side validation, and payment processing through Stripe. No online system can guarantee absolute security.
